Rod and I are getting married & I need to drop these last 10 lbs NOW!
WE ARE GETTING OUR LICENSE AND GETTING MARRIED - Date to be determined in the next 3 months.
He asked me last night about us getting married. He truly wants to surprise me with a ring and all but you know, times are tough. R E A L I TY - We don’t have a lot of money.
As my friends and family points out, when is really a good time? So what right? A ring is just a ring, we can always get my dream one later.
Rod’s mom have asked him now to do this. She feels that he and I are very good for one another. At first I thought he was half joking, but it’s very real.
We are getting our certificate Monday. From there he has 3 months, I told him he has 3 months to get me a ring.
I truly want, desire to have an Cambodian wedding ceremony - just for pictures mainly. I think his mom is asking for an African outfit to be injected in there somewhere. We will need to talk to his mom and my mom, I need my cousin and my sister to help put this small ceremony together - it will be intimate - just family that is it.
Above all, beyond the ring, the ceremony, we love each other. He’s never been married and he only wants to do it once. I want to do it for love. We are doing it for love.
Ummmm, I wish I can change things and have money for a dream wedding but my reality is, we feel like we are one since our First date 2 years ago. It’s time to make it legal.
IS this going to be my dream wedding? Probably not but I have my dream man. Through all of our trials and tribulations, he makes me happy, and I make him happy. Our heart is together therefore, we will make this marriage work.

When Jeff and I decided to get married I said “Let’s just go to the courthouse and save our money for important things. The wedding day isn’t as important as all the days that follow.” That’s exactly what we did. For the rings, we picked them out together, not fancy or expensive. We figured later on we can always upgrade. So there’s my advice.

No money was no problem for my sister…she and her husband got married and really didn’t spend that much money that I remember.
My mom made the dress actually! She and my gram can sew and so they did that. They had their wedding at his place, outside (it was a trailor) and they had it in April…it was freezing! lol and the dinner/reception was in their garage.
Someone made their cake…but it tasted nasty I think…my mom made a cake and many of the guests brought foods/dishes
So it was still nice!

I know you want that ring and I dont blame ya one bit. But remember, you got the man. And he is worth alot more than a stone. Just thing of the days ahead and how much more you will fall in love with him. You will get that ring. I just know it!

Ok, this makes me wanna cry–what a beautiful thought..one I agree with–take a dream man any day. You can still have a beautiful wedding pretty cheap if you start hunting. I dont know about there–but, here we have wedding dresses (beautiful ones) for $100 at this one store. Hopefully, everyone can pitch in and ya’ll can have a beautiful wedding. I know you wanted the traditional cambodian wedding–I remember the pics you showed and your description..how amazing it sounded.
As for the those last 10 lbs…go for it if you need to but, your beautiful already.

Congratulations! When I got married, most of my girlfriends from college were having big weddings and we couldn’t afford it. We had a small, beautiful one, that was just family and basically no honeymoon. We went on a great european honeymoon five years later and are still married after 18 years. Unfortunately, a lot of my college friends are divorced now. A small wedding can be fabulous, and either way, it’s just one day.

OH, Congratuatlions. I am so excited for the both of you. Tell him to take good care of you too, or I will come over there myself and take care of him. lol. I know he will though. I am sure as far as your plans things will work out the way the are suppose and you are right it doesn’t matter about anything else, the wedding, the ring, etc. it just matters that you two will get to spend toghter for every with one another. Lots of people have to wait til their 10th wedding anniversary to have the really big ceremony, or the exotic honeymoon.
What’s important is the actual act of getting married, not how much money you’re able to spend on it. I’m sure you can put together a beautiful, intimate ceremony on a budget and still have a wedding you’ll love.
