Corks a fiber source? Ballet/Pilates fusion, kickboxing & light weights

What happens when you take two people - one don’t drink often and the other drinks mainly beer?  CORKSCREWLESS PEOPLE!  LOL And the thing is I’m too cheap - yes I said it, I’m tooooooo cheap to buy one.

Few options:

1. We don’t drink our red wine (ROD gets no booooootay)

2.  Rod breaks the bottle while he attempts to open the bottle

3.  We drink Red Wine with some cork bits floating around….yummmy extra fiber

4. We push the cork down into the bottle and we are good to go.

GHETTOOO! That’s us.  We don’t drink enough red wine to warrant buying a corkscrew.  Yep he pushed the cork down cursing my name the whole way and then said to me, now we have to drink it all because we have nothing to close it with.  Well, the first glass made me sick and I threw up some of my dinner.  Not sure why I reacted badly to it.

I am super super sore from my neck down.  Every muscle group screams my name from Monday’s nearly 3 hours of cardio and weights.  I love love love the soreness.

I came home, I was sooooo tired I fell asleep and missed my yoga class.

Thus today it’s all about getting kickboxing and pilates in.  I will do some upper body but very very light weights.  I know that the pilates class will be a ballet/pilates fusion class so my arms will be completely sore from it.

I’m planning on eating a lot of food again - around 1900 calories before class and 2900 calories for the day.  Now, I’m not sure what went wrong Monday, but the Protein shake I bought which was 420 calories, didn’t do it’s job.  HummmphFFF.

I guess I have to stick to a new food plan:

Breakfast: 3 egg whites, 2 cups of steel cut oats with goji berries, 1/2 can of kidney beans

Snack: 2 cups frozen strawberries with Greek nonfat yogurt, 1 pear

Lunch: 1 grilled chicken thigh, sun dried tomatoes, hummus and  rye crispbread, 1fruit smoothie

Snack: 1 banana, 1 coleslaw with peanuts and my Trader Joe’s Vinaigrette

1 energy bar and Powerade zero calories for electrolytes.

    You threw it up? Ewwww!
You can get a cork screw from the dollar store! I will have to send you one ;)
I’ve been guilty of doing the same thing, it is annoying!
I am beat too. Busy week.
Enjoy your pilates. Did I tell you that they cancelled mine a while back? Stupid 24 hour fitness!

Agreeing them the comment above, You can get one at the dollar store or wal mart there not the nice fancy ones they are the original ones that also have a can opener or beer opener on the other end! God I LOVE WINE so unfair. And you wasted it!!! Aaahhh Nancy your not made to drink every time you get sick…weird!!! If your stupid email isn’t working make a new one with yahoo.com ! Seehs :)

Awww…well, you could be like us. Hubby loves wine (I drink beer or vodka…not wine). So, we bought a corkscrew…the joke was on us–our wine didnt even have the cork lmao. (this tells ya what kind of high class wine he drinks–but he likes it).
    Have a good day girl.

What’s funny is that we don’t really drink anything, but we have all sorts of stuff accumulated over the years :)

I really love your workouts, as usual. You do such a good job of covering everything. I have never heard about Pilates/Ballet fusion, but sounds like a killer workout.

Have fun with kickboxing and yoga today. I have been doing lotsa yoga in the past week of back injury, and my goal now is to do yoga every day.

As always, looking up to you, Nancy, for inspiration and ideas.

hahah - we went camping one time and had the same issue - nobody had a corkscrew. Somebody found a drill and drilled a small hole in the cork (which of course left cork pieces in the wine) and then poured it through a strainer. Too funny! TOTALLY Ghetto.

Dang it, no 99 cent store close by but I will keep that in mind Holly and Lace. Thanks girls.

Yep, I did throw up. I was hoping for more of a buzz but never got that - just a very upset stomach. :(

White wine person here!!! Never much liked red. Is it better for us? Worked for a DR. in Solana Beach and his wife found out I didn’t drink. She took me to everyplace she knew in San Diego. I never did find a drink I thought worth having more than one of. It was fun though. She was a neat lady and that was the first really great job I ever had. You are really creative with your workouts and food. I hope I can become half as good. Thanks for the inspiration, thin, lovely lady. Sherry

lol That is so funny about the wine bc me & my husband done the SAME thing. We’ve never invested into a corkscrew bc we hardley ever drink wine! One time we actually bought a cheap-o from the drug store & the darn thing broke on us when we tried to open a bottle (a year later!) …we still ended up drinking wine with bits of cork -YUM!

I don’t drink. I had an alcoholic father the last thing I want in my house is alcohol. Great exercise goals.

  14. Raytchaelle @ October 22nd, 2009

I guess not all of us are meant to be drinkers! :) I can’t stand the smell of any alcohol… it makes me feel sick, just to smell it!

I am so envious of you and your ballet/pilates fusion class!

  16. kamaperry @ October 22nd, 2009

Lmao, Nancy! Cork as fiber?? Ewww. Well you deserved to rest, I would say!! Go you on your workouts. I no longer drink, but wine always gave me a headache, loved my beer, though!

  17. Lori @ October 22nd, 2009

well I hope you got the benefits of the extra fiber before you woofed your cookies.
    LOL
    You are such a nut!
no wonder we get along so well

  18. spacebarisstuck @ October 22nd, 2009

you work out so often and so much… you STILL get sore???

lol.. wine bottle fiasco is funny… i’d take the bits of corkscrew over having a little brother try to be cool and perform “sabrage” with an oversized bowie knife and you wind up w/ almost half the bottle’s contents on the floor :-)

  19. AuntTeeTee @ October 22nd, 2009

lol I think the cork thing has happened to a lot of us.

I am not real big on protein shakes. I find one I like the taste of and it does nothing for me. I find one that works but then it tastes like crap. lol

  20. NicoleM @ October 22nd, 2009

Lol. WE are drinkers either. So don’t have one. I love it though.
