I’m worthy of more; you are worthy of more; we are precious jewels - priceless
Dedicating this to Holly. You made me realize after I read your comment that I’m always putting myself last. There I go again. I calculate, budget and what’s the last thing on my list? Me. I truly did not want to spend $1 on my healthcare. But you are right. I need to spend that money - I’m Worthy of $40 and more to take care of myself. How can I sit here day in and out, tell you guys to love yourself and put yourself first, and I don’t do it?
Nick, my girl helped me realize what physical ailment I was fighting and gave me a temporary solution. Cranberry juice and water. I chugging it a ton of it. :) So much that I runs to the bathroom all day long. Yes, I want to heal myself without seeing a doctor or pills, but at some point I need their assistance. Doesn’t mean I’m weak; just making wise choices.
This makes me think again about what most of us do each and every day. We are mothers, girlfriends, friends, lovers, sisters, wives, brothers, husbands, associates and so forth. As women, can’t speak for the men, as women we tend to take care of everybody around us but ourselves. I think, no, I know this is one of many reasons why so many of us fail on this journey. Now, from being on here each day, I know most of us fight the same battle: money issues but we are dam* good at budgeting if I say so myself!
But let’s budget so we are always taken care of. Make sure you put aside some “name” money for good food, some fun clothes for exercise, some spending money for a new exercise toy and some night outs with good friends eating high quality food. We are so worthy of it!!!!! I’m guilty of not doing for myself.
The other day, I took the last of $20 of $80 I had and bought myself a nice pair of bottoms for the gym. At first I felt guilty; then I put it on and I felt renewed, refreshed and motivated to go to class. I get all excited again.
Whether it’s $5 or $100, each month, treat yourself. Holly - you are right. WE ARE ALL WORTHY OF MORE!
PRECIOUS JEWELS WE ARE!! WE CAN LOSE THE WEIGHT AND LOOK GOOD! ;) HOLLA AT YOUR GIRL! LOVE YOU!
Tomorrow, I plan on doing some weights - as much as I can do with the pain I have to deal with. It’s ok, I modify my routine and keeping it light. ![]()

WOO!!! Go Nancy!!!
You are so right!!! =]
Ooohhh ps… Thats totally why Im going to A&F tomorrow!!! ; ]
Time for a little Tabb time!!! =]]]
Thank you thank you baby girl!
LOL We need to love ourselves right hon?
I think you should come to Abercrombie with me tomorrow haha… Lets go love on ourselves… A LOT!!! HAHA!!!
I would love too!! Happy Birthday little one!!!
Beautiful post! So true, kinda what’s been on my mind too. Thank you for the inspiration!
Goodness, you are so right!!! I do this too. We really need to show ourselves the same love we show to others.
I feel so guilty when I go to the gym when my son is awake because I call it “me time”. I know I need it but I feel so selfish while I’m there I tend to leave early. That is why I end up going before the sun is even thinking about rising so that way this feeling isn’t with me. I agree, it’s in our nature to take care of everyone around us we forget to take care of us and our needs. I don’t think I have “treated” myself to anything in a very long time. I’m so consumed with getting out of debt that I penny pinch at all costs! I think now I am going to treat myself to a new size 38C bra! Thanks for reminding me!
Amen to that!!!!!! I don’t like always feeling guilty when I need something! I relate to Chelleybones about the bra thing. Obviously when it starts falling off when you are running it no longer fits. Why is it not ok for me to go out and replace it tho??? I could tell each of you that you needed a new bra if you were telling me the stories of the bra sliding down as you ran. I could take my daughter to buy her a new bra, but for me, nah, as long as it doesn’t fall off when I am standing then I guess it’s still good, right???? hahahahaha. The craziness of life!!!
ahh sooo motivating especially on food sometimes i feel guilty asking my mom to buy me healthier choices like olive oil and stuff but then i never feel bad ordering a pizza for my brother cause i feel here deserves a treat, but what about us ladies?!
Now that is what I’m talking about!!! It is true though, my daughter has everything, but I really need some new pants, cuz they are all falling off!
Great blog, we all need to work on that. Financially I can’t relate. I don’t have children or a husband. So it’s just me. Unfortunately, I tend to spend too much trying to make myself feel better. Emotionally, mentally, I never seem to take care of me. I’m always putting someone else first or beating up on myself.
(((Nancy))) Hope you’re feeling better soon. Thank you for this post, & so well said!
Damn right, Nancy! I think we all need this reminder once in a while, that we are all unique and glorious. Get well soon!
You go chica!!! Thank you for this blog. Starting today, RIGHT NOW, I am going to appreciate ALEXANDRA a little more. I needed this today.
Thank you for reminding me of this. Families are so busy these days, its hard to remember to take time out for ourselves. I know in my house I am expected to be wonder woman. lol
YOu are right we are worth everything. Beside I know hubby tried to balance the bills and got everything all screwed up. So I know that without me he would be lost.
you are correctamundo!
Sorry about your pain, I hope you get well soon. We all can learn a thing or two from you Nancy. Great blog!
I love this blog. I think in today’s day and age it is so hard for us to take time for ourselves. Somewhere along the way we have learned that it is selfish to think about our own needs. But there comes a time when we have think about thing things that we need. For instance when we are sick or in pain. I hope you are feeling better and never forget to take your own advice. You are always telling us we have to take a little time for yourselves each day. Well right back atcha girl.

You are so right! IF you get seriously sick and never went to the doc’s it might get worse. You and your family rely on you and if you missed work or were hospitalized, then they wouldn’t have you.
I hope you get better! Keep drinking the juice, my mom has been drinking that stuff since she had an infected kidney and a UTI last May. So be careful, she ended up in the hospital for a UTI and her kidney was infected. Not fun!
Well, it ate my comment! or something, can you find it for me?
Feel better, Nancy… And thanks for the reminder that we need to take care of ourselves — so important!
Very well said. Many of us sacrificed ourselves for other if lead to poor habits which in time lead weight gain.
We must take care of ourselves in order to have a balanced healthy life.
You know the funny thing? Your blog a while back made me start thinking like that. How we spend so much time on other people but we feel bad if we spend 30-60 min exercising and going to our classes.
I use to be the worst person in the world about taking care of everyone but myself and I have learned I HAVE to put myself first. I got to make sure I am mentally and physically taken care of because people do depend on me so I got to be good.
I am glad you are going to the doctor. Let us know what happens…
nancy it about time!!!!!!!!!!! nancy as a man I know that most women don’t put themself first, because I know when I lost as much weight I myself I’m to get myself something nice!!!!!! ninja love

lol erase my last comment nancy!!!!!!!!!! don’t know what i was on!!!!!!!!

Yea, we deserve it! You deserve rewards and to be pampered and taken care of, even if we have to do it ourselves…
The bible says to love others the way we love ourselves… We got the love others down must of the time… Its the loving ourselves that we tend to fail at…
You go girl, thanks for that realization…
I read her comment too and liked what she said… I was like ahha Holly said it right I’m glad you are listening to her and I am going to remember this too.
I’m really glad Nichole helped you figure out what I hope ends up being a solution for you then maybe you could spend that $40 on something fun! Hope you start feeling better Nancy =D
girl! i WISH i had the problem of not spending enough of my money on ME! i’m the complete opposite! i was raised a SPOILED BRAT and got what i wanted, when i wanted, whether it was a pair of $200 shoes or a $1000 pure breed dog (rip maui!).. and now, living on my own (sorta of, after my lease was up i moved back in with my parents for a month to save up for one in a better neighborhood) i find it SO hard to budget! but like you, i don’t ever want to spend the money to go see a doctor.. isn’t that weird? i don’t know what it is, but the $40 would look better ON me =) what really got me to open up my eyes to it, was when my boyfriend’s grandma was diagnosed in the 3rd stage of cervical cancer and could have been prevented if she would have just had an annual pap! that opened up my pretty brown eyes and i took my ass to the doc’s for that very thing.. So, you and holly are soooo right…so many things could be prevented just by a trip to the doctor’s office!
When it comes to your situation, I LITERALLY feel your pain- I get CHRONIC uti’s & kidney infections - have ended up in the ER at least 3 times because it was so bad, and you need to do whats best for you and take care of yourself. The last time, I ended up hallucinating because the infection was backing up into my bloodstream and I nearly became septic. There’s a great product otc called AZO- you can take the cran-supplement once a day to prevent future infections, or if you have one already, they have a pain relief pill too.
And yes, it’s necessary for ALL of us to indulge in a little something extra. I feel like an absolute queen when my bf buys me a new PS2 game or movie or book (I’m a nerd). Or if I find a kick-ass pair of earrings (esp on sale!) Keep it up, girl, you are an inspiration!!
