A fool blames the scale & other factors; In the morning & in the evening - ohhhh yes! :)

kickboxing.jpg

It’s 6:00am and I’m taking off for my morning kickboxing class.  It’s been about 6 months since I went to any morning classes.  Certainly taking advantage of having two cars.  And I got 8 hours of sleep.  I love my morning instructor.  Blaithin, this woman kicks a$$!  She, like you run marathons and does a lot of outdoor activities as well as teach yoga and kickboxing.

Honestly girl, my run love died for a minute.  I think I’m holding off because the minute Rod mom comes and we down to one car, I have no choice but to run a lot.  On top of that I tend to do things in waves.  So, running, when I do get back, it’s hardcore baby! :)   I like to mix it up anywayz.   Never get burnt out on any one exercise.  Cross training keeps it all fun and fresh.

Anyhow, off I go.

And this evening it’s with LANA!  Another one of my favorite instructors.  I have kickboxing and it’s HIP HOP #3!!!!!

I love love love eating all my fruits and veggies during the day.  At night I get to indulge in some meat..yummooooo.  Except last night my brother made buffalo wings and I had 2 of them.  Oh well!!!

Also, been poppin’ handfuls of goji berries and cacao bits (raw chocolate).   Gives me a lot of energy.

One thing about weight loss, you have to be patient.  Too many people get discouraged easily.  So what if you didn’t lose a lb?  You are losing other ways.  Don’t get hung up with that scale.  It will drive you nuts. Over and over again I see people get angry and upset over the scale and how dare the scale do this to them………hmmmmmm scale did nothing to you.  THAT’S YOU!  I take ownership for my scale every day.  Yep, it’s all about me and what I did.  A fool blames everyone and everything for their lack of loss.

Now you see why I rarely visit the scale?  Also, the closer you get to goal, as many of you are, the harder it gets.  Doesn’t mean you ARE NOT making progress.

Patience is not my strong point, but I am trying so hard this time to be patient. Thanks for the eye-opener!

So true!!! I try to tell people to check their measurements along with the scales. I love to check my measurements once a week. Loosing inches is the up there with loosing the weight. It all wil eventually come off if we continue to do our best.

I agree I get so aggravated when I here people weight several times a day. If I was not with a team I would only weight once a month!! Enjoy today’s workouts they all sound fun.

    Very well said

there really is so much progress that can be made that isn’t necessarily reflected on the scale

that is something we could all be reminded of now and then

    THANKS!

yep I step on the scale daily but am not letting it get to me.. If I would have done that i would have had one bad week LOL. But it is still nice to step on it and see a loss. I like inches lost way more though.. And the fact of me wanting to get fit. so great blog there chickie

Hi, I’ve been reading your blog and I have to say i love it. Pass me on some of your kick ass because I have been feeling verrrrry sorry for myself and wrote a big long ‘poor me’ blog just now. Guess I have to kick myself up the bum and get on with it. Thanks for the inspiration! xxx

I think the scale obsession comes from the whole darn BMI chart. We have been taught that if your weight is in a certain area you are fat, and the only thing that matters is the weight. However what people don’t realize is that the BMI chart does not take into account other important bodily factors.

I must admit though that I am one that is a little obsessed with the scale. I can’t help it. It has been drilled in my head since childhood that the scale is what makes a woman. However I am in the process of trying to get out of that thought process. So please be a little patient with those of us that are in recovery:).

    Have fun in kickboxing!
I love the scale when it moves! But I actually want to lose slower now, even though it sounds weird. The scale doesn’t show the entire picture. Most people would never guess how much I weigh. But I am not sure if that is height, I doubt I have that much muscle…

  16. Raytchaelle @ July 10th, 2009

I used to be obsessed with what the scale said. I’d weigh myself 3 or 4 times a day… even had a chart! That was the unhealthy me… now I use it to remind myself to be healthy. :) Great blog! Not all weight loss is true weight anyway.

haha! It’s crazy to get mad at the scale. That would be like getting mad at the mirror cuz I have a muffin top in my favorite jeans. LMAO Doesn’t work that way…. Girl, I FELL OFF my game since 4th of July weekend. Ugh! Send me some of your energy so I can get back on track this weekend! ;)

You are right… This week I have been doing great with exercise (one day I even went twice) and eating… Do the scale keeps on going up and down… I know its my body adjusting, I just want to see the reward… But, you are right… I will keep it up!
