What’s the diff btwn me this week & me last week?Breaking the buddyslim addiction

A TAN DARKER THEN RODNEY’S!!! lol

This weekend I spent as much time away from Buddyslim as I can.  I find I spend way too much time here.  There’s good and bad to that.  Honestly, I need to take time out for my family and friends and I did just that.

I exercised  a lot before Buddyslim and should there be a day without Buddyslim I will continue to do just exactly that.  I had to prove that to myself this weekend.  Yep, I am me without this place.  I’m not addicted to it like I used to.  On top of that, the vibe here has changed.  It’s not as friendly as it used to be.  I don’t know what happened here.  But sad to say, I’m not going to keep supporting people who don’t support me.  It’s a two way street.  I thank my friends who have stuck by me from day one and new ones too.  But I WILL NOT spend time on people who doesn’t take the time to be there for others.  You rub my back I rub your back.  Just my thoughts.  Just my thoughts.

Yesterday I went for a 10K run outside in the early morning.  Not timed or anything.  I just got it done.  It was nice.

Then I spent the afternoon swimming with my 2 and 5 yr old nephews.  In the evening I went for a nighttime swim with my brothers and sister - a ton on fun.    All in all a totalof 4 hours of activity.

Then today I spent the afternoon swimming for 2 hrs with the nephews and my niece. MY Lord, I’m almost the same shade as my honey.  Yep I am so tanned it will stick on me for the next 6 or 7 months.  *SIGH* Most people want a tan but not me.  Back to night time swimming only.

Monday exercise is bittersweet.  It’s the last Step class with Nygel before they cancel it on us. I frankly, am soooooooooooooooooooooo broke that I don’t have money to buy the fruits and veggies I need to sustain 3 hours of exercise.  But I’m going to devise a plan to get the money that I need.  Pay day isn’t until Wedneday. :(  My poor Rod lost 10 lbs from not eating so much but you know we didn’t spend our money wisely this time. :(

I will make the best of tomorrow with all three classes.  I’m enjoying kickboxing again and can’t wait to do it with Nygel.  Then finish off with Yoga.

Personally, I love reading your blogs. I don’t usually comment because you get so many. I would hate to see a day on BS without you on here regularly.
So Glad you had family time, that is so very important.
Great job on the run :)

Buddyslim is great, but I know what you mean. At one point I was spending TOO much time on here.

It’s good to have support and to be here for others, but taking time for your family is important too!!!

It’s all about balance baby!!! And I know you know that! Good to see you taking care of yourself.

Ya know, you’ve got a good point here. If you want good buddies, you’ve got to be a good buddy.

I just want to say that I am SO glad I found your blog when I got started on this site. I learned from your example what this site should be all about: solid advice and support. You also showed me how important it is to lose weight the right way, the healthy way. Dang it sure takes a lot longer than some of the quick-fixes out there, but it’s well worth it.

It’s so true what people are saying, this site wouldn’t be the same without you.

Too true Nancy - I always say that we just move from one addiction to another, Buddyslim is a bit like that too

i do love the blogs and the food journal though and find it really inspirational

I knew you’d get that 10K in!! And oh well about the tan… there are worse things to worry about!! LOL

Nancy, I am with you on breaking the addiction! I too was on here waaaay to much and to be honest, it was feeding my OCD that I have about my diet/lifestyle change. I was becoming too dependent and thinking about dieting way too much. And getting burnt out quick.

While that means I may not be here to give my support as much as I was, I understand when I dont get responses back now. But to be honest, alot of my original buddies arent even here anymore. Maybe it has to do with busy summertime? Who knows!

But enjoy your time away, sometimes I think we live inside our computers too much and really miss out on life.

I certainly hear you with the money woes. I hope you can get the things you need. You crack me up with your tan!! I am sooooo glad that you spent all that quality time with the family. I did too and it was a blast! We gotta do that!

  17. ready2bskinE @ June 29th, 2009

Hey Nancy! Ugh… I know what you mean about the grocery budget. :( It would be so nice to be able to just go to the store and get what I need without worrying about counting up how much I’m spending as I go.

:) about your tan! I went over to a friends’ house Saturday to lay out! She sprayed “accelerator” all over her pale body, but I was afraid of getting burned, so I snuck into the bathroom and slathered my shoulders and nose with sunscreen. I got burned right in the middle of my back where I couldn’t reach, but the rest of me is still pasty pale. LMAO For future reference, try Water Babies SPF 50…. it’ll keep the sun from touching you, I promise! LOL

And PLEASE don’t leave Buddy Slim!!! I can’t imagine this place without you! I’m not sure what you mean about it not being a friendly place, but I can only assume you’ve got some haters. But you know, anybody who really puts themselves out there is going to have people who really love them, and people who really hate on them. Sort of like a celebrity, I guess. You’ve got your fans and your haters… I can see how that would be stressful, and I won’t be mad at you if you pull back some, but please don’t LEAVE! **HUGS** Nancy!

    WooHoo girl… 10K…. awesome :D
I know what you mean with being on here all the time and needing a break. I needed to take a break, needed to get my mind of for a while… well, and then sh** happenend and my break turned out to be longer then planned. So I wasn’t a great buddy the last two weeks. Not because I didn’t care I just couldn’t get my mind straight. Still having a hard time but working on it.
I hope you never leave this site. It just wouldn’t be the same without you. Take your time off, step back a little but please don’t you ever leave us.((HUGS))

I am also trying to take a break from internet addictions to spend more time with family. You are an amazing workout queen, you could stand on your own without this place, but we would miss you because you are such an inspiration!

  20. Dagny @ June 29th, 2009

    10k?! you are amazing!
I’ve been trying to cut back on BS time too…especially since I have a test coming up soon :(

  21. TerisJourney @ June 29th, 2009

It sucks when those you consider friends aren’t there when you need them. I found that out the hard way. When I needed the Wildcats the most, they dumped me. :-(

  22. astrongnewme @ June 30th, 2009

I find that making time to visit here can be motivating for me, but there is of course a limit. I leave comments on almost every blog I visit, like you seem to, and it can be draining, so too much is time away from doing something for myself. There’s a balance all of us need to strike.

  23. meltingaway @ June 30th, 2009

10k and the swimming, amazing. You inspire me to push my own limits.
I know what you mean about the tone changing. I thought it was just me, that my blog was boring and repetitive. Thanks for commenting on it, I hope it begins to change.

  24. hotmama @ June 30th, 2009

I love swimming especially with kids. I have a one year old he loves the water he swims even when taking a bath. We had him in swimming classes really early at 3 months so he thinks he can swim alone LOL. I hope you keep coming on buddyslim I love your blogs. I must say I do agree that the vibe on here has changed and that there are alot of people that aren’t here anymore.

  25. overthebulge @ June 30th, 2009

Swimming is an exercise I need to start taking up and great job on the 10k I would love to have my body at a level where i could do that one day….you are such an inspiration girl i would hate for you to not be here but sometimes you gotta do stuff for you….when I showed my girlfriend the site your profile was the one I went to to show just how much progress I wanted to make what you have accomplished is amazing :)

  26. khmerbeauty @ June 30th, 2009

Teri, I’m sorry you feel that way, but I had to check in with Kama, Nicole and Anj. Ummmmm, we didn’t take you off the team. You asked to be taken off the team because of a misunderstanding over the weigh in reminders.

I am going to support the Wildcats and my teammates, we are there for you but you also have to remember, each of us gets what we put in - thanks Tracey for the reminder.

  27. khmerbeauty @ June 30th, 2009

In other words, we never “dumped” you.

  28. kamaperry @ June 30th, 2009

Teri, I remember you got all upset over the weigh in reminders and asked to be taken off the team. We NEVER EVER dumped you. All we have ever done is try to support you and anyone who wants our help. I am sorry you interpreted it this way, but you need to slow down and think. YOU left us. -Kama

  29. easybreezy @ June 30th, 2009

oh poor Rod lost weight he doesn’t look like he could stand to lose any weight!

I am jealous of you and your tan. The time you spent with your family sounds so great. I love spending time with little kids I love playing outside with little kids being silly and crazy essentially acting like a kid it makes me feel free :]

  30. gallavant @ June 30th, 2009

Way to go Nancy. I admire you for choosing to spend more time with your family and less time here. One of the reasons I think that you are so successful, not only in your weight loss but also in other aspects of your life is that you have a clarity in identifying the problem and come up with a workable plan to solve it. Keep me posted on how you do w/ your Buddy Slim Mgt.
I also spent time with my family this weekend - my mom and dad & g’kids came for the day & we spent a chunk of time in the pool. Nothing like it.

    Be blessed,
    amy

Time with family has to come first, I believe that. (((((((Nancy)))))))))
