$1900 a month What can one do with $$$ like that? I can’t wait to get off work

Well if you live in Cali, that’s one month of RENT for ya!! Yep, we just signed on our new lease for the next year. Went up to $1900 per month. For 1100 sq feet, 2 bedroom one bath, yay - it hurts! The perks? I live in a gated complex with a pool literally right outside my front door. I am 5 minutes away from Disney. So close I can hear the fireworks every single night. I’m 10 minutes away from Newport Beach, 45 min from LA, 1 hr or so from San Diego, 2 hrs from the mountains, 4 hours from Vegas.

My work is 5 minutes by freeway. When I start running from work again when it’s not so sunny it’s a 5 mile run straight home. There are a lot of perks but to shell out that much money for no land (thinking of you Kerstin and your 10 acres - I’m jealous) but a tiny backyard it’s a ton of money to pay for so little. That’s why I have to roommate with my younger brothers. They better be paying their portion. No way am I paying this much a month all by myself!
I decided not to move out and leave the fam bam behind. My heart wouldn’t let me. On top of that, my mom is very sick with cancer; as much as we fight, she is still ma.

The dreams of owning my own home out here even in this economic downturn, is only that a dream for most of us out here. Unless you make a six figure income, which I’m no where near, I can’t afford a mortgage. Still wondering how my girlfriend is doing with her monthly $4000 mortgage on an old home she bought right before the market bust?

Anyhooooo!!!!! Walking at lunche and breaks - yay!!! And I can’t wait to get a short run in before Pilate’s and Interval weights training. Have to go back to eating.

Oh - how evil - my boss is on a business trip and my peeps bring in donut. I had a few bites.

Yeah sounds about right. I’d pay that to live 5-10 minutes from Disney for SURE! DAMN that is AWESOME!!!!!! But I live like 2-3 days drive from you. lol (and of course I don’t pay even CLOSE to that for my house and we have a huge house too that we just had built) haha Anyway I’m going for a jog/run tonight. You gave me that extra boost. lol

nancy….i know what you are talking about…i lived in cali before i moved to florida..but i lived in sacramento and paid my sons rent in oceanside….after my hubby died it was harder and harder to keep up with the bills on my own out there…so i moved here where my daughter was living at the time…and i live on a small farm now…and let me tell you that i would trade my farm for cali any day…there is nothing like it in the world…because i lived in sacto…i spent most of my time in san fransisco and once a month down in san diego…you are one of the lucky ones that gets to live in california…be happy with your tiny yard…trust me on that….lol…viv

  6. ready2bskinE @ June 9th, 2009

Yep, that’s outrageous… but the perks are definitely worth it, if you can afford it!

  7. kerstinaparton @ June 9th, 2009

Yep nancy have to pay for a good location. Reading where you live makes me envious. I love living where I do at times but dang I MISS THE BEACH..
If I were single I would so live where you live.

I agree you get what you pay for. I love Disneyland. Been there 3 times.

  9. jenniferh @ June 9th, 2009

Not me - my mortgage is not a lot less than that, but instead of living next door to Disneyland, I get a 5 bedroom house with a pool in a quiet neighborhood with practically no crime and my kids can walk to school. We also have the neighborhood tennis courts, and we’re within 30 minutes in any direction from about 4 malls, we’re within an hour of the beach, an hour from Schlitterbahn (waterpark - I’ll take it over Disney, any day!) and 10 minutes to an hour from anything else I could possibly ever need (including an Astros game!)

Texas rocks. Keep your Disneyland ( :D )

Well, it sounds like you have a nice place.

  11. khmerbeauty @ June 9th, 2009

That’s fine! I love Disney and everything here. :) I’ll keep it and some.

  12. SexyShivonne @ June 9th, 2009

Yea, that sounds about right. It’s like that here in San Diego too! RI-DIC-U-LOUS!!!!!
But… I rather pay what we pay, then live in snow (Detroit snow YUCK!!!) Sounds like it’s still a deal tho considering all the perks. Gotta have a BS housewarming one day! I’ll bring the Dakari’s!!!! LOL!

  13. beckyboo @ June 9th, 2009

Yikes, that is a lot ! I know I have told you this before, but I pay less then $600 a month for my mortgage ! No pool outside my door, that is fo sho ! Hope you have a great week Nancy !

  14. kyliejo @ June 10th, 2009

Geeze that’s a lot! You could buy a huge house here in Kansas! ;)
Well my sister who may move to LA will have to pay $1000 a month to share a room with someone else so it’s crazy expensive!
PS—I don’t blame you for not moving out, I would have done the same.

  15. sayalot @ June 10th, 2009

Yikes, that’s twice the amount of my mortgage. Of course, I live in a small town in Indiana. We do have a pool but, other than that it’s just farms around these here parts. lol.
