5K run was niccceee; The importance of a good warm up, cool down AND STRETCH

Good news!  Rod got the INS interview postponed till June.  We need to do a lot of work before that meeting.  The downside is Rod can’t go to school with just a work permit.  He needs an actual green card!  He already missed 2 quarters of art school.  This is really hard on us.

Well, last night I did not eat after 9pm! Yah!  Must be the kidney beans I had for breakfast.  Not so bad after I warmed it up - canned of course,  like I really eat beans in the first place.  :)

This morning as promised I got up early, ate a nice breakfast of 3 egg whites, 1 hard boiled egg, a little rice and 1/2 a banana.  I was soooooo sore from yesterday’s 3 hours of parlay at the gym.  But I did it.  I went and got a 5K run in under 28 minutes and 1/2 mile walk at  the steepest incline.

I just need to get a yoga class in tonight and a 1/2 hr meditation session in and I’m good for today. :)

Oh, before I forget - I’ve been taking a lot of time to warm up properly - 10 min, cool down proper 10 min and a good at least 25 min of yoga/stretch.  It makes a big difference.  I still am sore but not so knotty. LOL AND NEVER NEVER DO I STRETCH BEFORE WARM-UP!  Don’t ever pull or tear any muscles; it’s that important.

KAMA, NICK, LORI AND ANJ - I’M GOING TO BE IN THE OFFICE AT NOON!!  TTYL - EMAIL ME!!!!

Great job on the workout and not eating after 9pm Nancy.

Good news about Rod. I just went through Immigaration with my husband and it was HELL! I feel your pain. But, you’ll get there in the end.

Keep up the great work! I’m going to do yoga tonight too, you’ve inspired me!

YAY on the postponement! NOw he needs to get prepared so he can stay with you forever! I LOVE Trader Joe’s, just wish I could get to one easier. They dont have one on my side of the Mississippi and they have the highway closed so it takes me almost 40 minutes to get there instead of the usual 15! But so worth it. I got NINE bags of edamame, some pot stickers, some hash stuff, some rice crackers, some kidney beans, some sweet potato fries and cant remember what else. I get all my produce at Aldis, which I found out recently is owned by the same company as Trader Joe’s. Who knew? Have a great day!

oh yea, I know stretching is important I just did not get it in today. How/where do you stretch when you go out for a run/walk and are not at home or the gym?

  8. Dagny @ May 12th, 2009

Thanks for the stretching tip! There are actually benches located at 2-3 corners of that track…so yeah I could have used them to do my sitting stretches!
Also there are 2 benches at the park near my house. I tend to wait til I get home to stretch, but I could stretch there too! Thanks so much, I will definitely use them now!

WooHoo on not eating after 9 :D …. but Kidney beans for breakfast…. even after everything you do you still find a way to surprise me ;)
Hope everything will work out for Rod :)
Oh and awesome on your running too :D I don’t stretch often enough after running, always forget about it and I think I am paying the prize for it :( My legs are always hurting, I usally don’t have to stop running because of my breathing it’s because my legs (upper legs) are just tight and in pain. I know I know…. should know by now…but just one of those things I know I should do different and still don’t do it ;)
Thanks for reminding me though :D
