5K run @ 29 min! YAH but no IPOD to keep me happy :(

I CAN’T BELIEVE I LEFT MY IPOD AT WORK! I got to the gym and was ready for a good 6 mile run. But looking through my bag I realized my IPOD was at work. I forgot that I did a 4 mile walk this morning!

Yuck! Well, I was there already I said to self: self you have to do this music or not. It was sheer torture! To speed things up I went faster. GOT 3.4 Miles in - my 5K at 29 minutes. This is shaving mere seconds of yesterday’s 5 miles at 50 minutes. I take it! :)

So now, I’m gonna go home and see if I can get a nice 3 mile walk in to get a full 10 miles of running and walking in for the day. NOT BAD! :)

I still am not eating enough today.  I have room for some fruits maybe.  But on point with all the proteins, fats, carbs and sodium! :)

I used to run without music because when I race I feel like I’m cheating to have it on. For me it ruins the spirit of the race because you block everything out like people cheering/waving/misc. bands playing on the side of the road, etc.

I’ve gotten wimpy and use it for majority of training now but if you are at the gym it helps if you can bear to throw something over the treadmill screen so that you can’t look down every ten seconds hoping that your run is over. But keep the pace area available so you can adjust your speed depending on how you feel.

If the gym has a clock, peek at it so you know when to stop but it helps to not look at the “seconds” counter because it can sometimes feel like FOREVER.

I know exactly what you mean. I enjoy my running so much less w/out my ipod! I like hypnotic music that helps me zone out and just kina… flow. It’s almost like meditation. I think that’s part of why my running is so enjoyable to me - not only do I get the endorphins, but I get a calm clear mind as well. :D Good job on shaving off those seconds too - it’s HARD to keep doing that!!!
