WHO SAYS WOMEN CAN’T DO PUSH-UPS? BECAUSE I WILL PROVE YOU WRONG

And you will have to join us in doing them.  COME ON LADIES!! WE CAN DO THEM!!!

http://www.weight-loss-forums.buddyslim.com/fitness-challenge/4720-nancys-push-up-walk-run-challenge-108.html

My girl Maya and many people asks me about my push-up history so here goes:

I’ve been doing weight, strength conditioning  for a few years BUT last November I realized something.  The upper body strength I though I had - didn’t exist.  I found this out when I started going to my Exercise Idol’s Power Yoga class.  This lady injects not just a regular push-up but TRI-CEP Push-ups which are probably the hardest to do.  And guess what I couldn’t do one! Not one!

It humbled me completely.  But like everything in life, I said to my self: Self - you will conquer them and be just like every other person in that yoga class.  You will do all of them and you will do them with good form.

Well Self was right.  So I started.   I never did the modified “girl”, wall, or any other types of push-ups.  I went for the regular “man” push-ups.  First I can only do chest push-ups, wide arms because they were easier.   Then I started at tri-ceps.

In order to catch up to the class, I did them privately at home 10 reps, 100 a day…or so it started.  Every week 2 to 3 times a week I did this.

Well, months later even between breaks, pitfalls and what not I can do 400 push-ups.  A mixture of split, tri-cep and chest.  I do 30 reps in one set.  And I have cut down rest time between sets.  I try to get them done as soon as possible.

I also started incorporating planks between sets.  I’m also doing them on the black side of the BOSU and on the stability ball.  All for variation and complete strength trainning.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, if you think you can do it…..just know it can be done!!!

A lot of times people are so skeptical of me.  Especially men, like how can a girl do regualar push-ups if she’s not an athelete?  I showed plenty including my boss, my honey’s brother and my family.  They have to respect a woman who can do them and with proper form.

That’s another thing.  The form will become better as you do them!!! GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE TO SEE YOUR FACE IN THE FORUMS!!!!!!

BTW, I keeps up and all my push-ups in yoga and kickboxing combined.  Easy easy.

I HATE when people call the traditional form “man” push-ups. It’s insulting to women, like we’re too weak and wimpy to bang out a push up! It also leads one to believe that women shouldn’t bother because we can’t. I am not a fan of push-ups but I do them because they are great for upper body strength.

You will completely DISAGREE with my reply, so here goes. I’m way too fat to do push-ups! LMAO I tried doing “girl” push-ups last night and barely made it to 10. I felt like I was pushing up 400 pounds! (when in fact, it’s more like… 3/4 of my body weight… so about 190-200 pounds!) It’s UBER hard. Man I don’t know… My arms are very weak. Even wall push-ups are a struggle depending the incline you put yourself at. I’m trying to be inspired by your blog but it’s just not doing it for me. You’re just much stronger than me, you HAVE to be! LOL So… yeah, an excuse from me. I’ll still continue trying them, no DOUBT, but I can imagine that they’ll get easier as I lose weight… right???????? lol Thanks Nance, your blog IS great. You’re just amazing, no other words for it. One day I’ll do 11. ;)
