My Achilles Heel - nite eating; I knew it!!! ABS and why I don’t do crunches all day long

My achilles’ heel is night time eating and a boyfriend who loves fast food.  Well, can’t blame it on him.  It’s all me.  I’m fighting this fight so hard! I will win it!  It’s one of my last struggle. I can not allow it to beat me!  It’s hard, I feel like it’s an addiction.  But like all addcition - stick the words “I CAN DO IT” and I will win over it.

What is the achilles’ heel in your weight loss journey?

See the words Pilates below?  Everything I ever said about abs read:

Exercise Myths: 6 Ab Mistakes That Are Holding You Back

1. Myth: To get rock-hard, you have to work your abs every day.
Why: Abs need rest and recovery: It’s only during rest that your muscles build. “Three to five days a week of consistent, dedicated abdominal training should get you strong, sleek abs,” says Kathy Kaehler, trainer and author of Kathy Kaehler’s Celebrity Workouts.

2. Myth: A good ab workout takes half an hour.
Why: “If it takes you that long to feel them working, you’re doing something wrong,” says Kaehler. “I trained Jennifer Aniston about three days a week, and we did no more than five minutes of abs each time.” Check your form, don’t use momentum and focus on quality rather than quantity.

3. Myth: Super-slow crunches make you stronger.
Why: Taking as much as a minute per crunch doesn’t make you stronger than regular crunches do. In fact, ultra-slow ab work is less effective. Ideally, your workout should help you do everything better, from kickboxing to picking up a suitcase - neither of which you do in slo-mo.

4. Myth: The best time to train your abs is at the end of your workout.
Why: “It makes no physiological difference when you train abs, it only matters that you do it consistently,” says abs researcher and physical therapist Gilbert Willett, M.S., associate professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. So the best time to work them is simply whenever you’re most likely to do it. “But if you do abs at the beginning of your workout, make sure you warm up first. Getting blood moving prevents many types of injuries during a workout.”

5. Myth: You can’t get a six-pack by doing Pilates.
Why: “Pilates exercises your core, so if you practice it regularly and combine it with diet and cardio, it can give you a six-pack,” says Kimberly Lyons, a personal trainer in L.A. But Pilates isn’t a six-pack guarantee. How your abs look has a lot to do with your genes, how lean you are, how long your torso is and how tall you are.

6. Myth: You won’t get firm without a weight machine.
Why: You don’t need weights to build sleek and sexy abs, although some competitive athletes do use them to build extra strength. “Many weighted ab machines aren’t designed for women,” says Lyons. “If you don’t fit into the machine properly, you might stress your body in the wrong spot.” Her advice: Stick to the floor - it’s cheap, effective and available everywhere.

9 MINUTE FLAT = 5K 27min! oh yes!! I GOT THE BUG!!!

I checked the schedule and my favorite Exercise GURU Miss Nygel is still out for laser surgery.  I decided to work on rebuilding my IPOD!

OH YES BABY!  MAMA BROUGHT HER A GAME TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ate 1/2 of my Apex Energy bar that and 1200 calories of food equal a wonder 3 mile straight run this evening! I WAS ON FIRE!  YEP NON-STOP AND ALL TO NEW TRANCE RE-MIXES!

Then I did my hard core Pilates class! Owwieee! I love the pain.

All in all today was a success.  The 4 days of food poisoning only strengthened me.  In total I did 7 miles of walk/run which is the 4 from this morning and my Pilates.

I have to say I’ve been biten by the runner’s bug!!! I’m contagious! OH YES!

Tomorrow morning 6 am - we have a date with JIM.  Yes, another 3 mile run tomorrow.  Can’t wait to do it all over again!!!!

OK, now I have to eat about 2300 calories total….I hear the food angels calling me to come and eat now! :)

EXCITED! 6am 4mile jog/walk while morning dew lingers; kickboxing & Pilates

I am a bit peeved.  I don’t know how but I did it.  I erased all the songs off my IPOD and the charger is at work.  At first I was going to let it stop me from running at the gym this early morning.  But I didn’t.  Instead I got my butt up came to my work place at 6am and went for a 4 mile jog/walk this morning.  The business complex I work in is right next to JOHN WAYNE airport.  It was the perfect morning for a small workout.  What’s better then getting up early eating some plums, then walk/jog 4 miles?  The air is so fresh and clean.  I did the bridge/overpass 4 times!  I didn’t time myself but I know it’s less then an hour.  My goal was just to get it in.  I am a bit sweaty but did clean up nicely for work.

Tonight I’m either going to do a 2 mile run before Pilates or kickboxing and Pilates.  I’m gearing towards Kickboxing and Pilates.  So I have to eat a ton of food. Probably about 1200 calories by 5pm.  Most of it I want from breakfast and lunch.

So far had toast, plum and working on two servings of oatmeal.  Then it’s apples and more apples.   Hey, I forgot to go food shopping last night.

Good luck to all! And happy hump day!

Pilates kicked my bootay today! Need to eat more in the morning

Ahhh, still not eating enough early on in the day.  I was so busy at work I could not get a lot of food in.  In the last 4 months I’ve progressively cut sugar and sodium out of my diet.  So no sugar with my coffee and oatmeals most days.  Today I had a hard time taking in regular oatmeal with no sugar.  As much as I wanted to add sugar I know it’s best that I don’t.  Perhaps one day I can get used to it and not want to vomit.  Sparks people tells me “Thai Curry chicken” which is the same as my curry chicken is full of sodium and high in cal.  Well, my home version is bland and I don’t think the calorie count should be that high because the ingredients are simple.  So I added my own in.  Same goes for my sour chicken.  They made it a high sodium dish but I know my home version doesn’t have that many in it.

Today was not a push-up day but got 100 in.  Ended up doing only 1/2 an hr of weights before going to Pilates.  I know what I did wrong, I forgot to eat that energy bar before class.  As much as I wanted to get a run in I opted out for tonight.  I can still here my baby in my ears telling me I’m trying too hard too soon.

I did my 100 push-ups before class because I felt like I didn’t get a good upper body work out in.  The instructor had us do some more but this time after we went to a high side plan position and into tri-cep push-up stance.  Not hard but just an awkward position for me.

Of course I already planned to get a run in tomorrow morning before work.  Perhaps just 3 miles?  Easy enough and I’m not going for time.  Just 3 hours at a nice pace.  Then in the evening I can do a 4 mile walk before Pilates again.  Now, if I can only get my baby to not spoil my night so I can eat and get up for the gym.

WHO SAYS WOMEN CAN’T DO PUSH-UPS? BECAUSE I WILL PROVE YOU WRONG

And you will have to join us in doing them.  COME ON LADIES!! WE CAN DO THEM!!!

http://www.weight-loss-forums.buddyslim.com/fitness-challenge/4720-nancys-push-up-walk-run-challenge-108.html

My girl Maya and many people asks me about my push-up history so here goes:

I’ve been doing weight, strength conditioning  for a few years BUT last November I realized something.  The upper body strength I though I had - didn’t exist.  I found this out when I started going to my Exercise Idol’s Power Yoga class.  This lady injects not just a regular push-up but TRI-CEP Push-ups which are probably the hardest to do.  And guess what I couldn’t do one! Not one!

It humbled me completely.  But like everything in life, I said to my self: Self - you will conquer them and be just like every other person in that yoga class.  You will do all of them and you will do them with good form.

Well Self was right.  So I started.   I never did the modified “girl”, wall, or any other types of push-ups.  I went for the regular “man” push-ups.  First I can only do chest push-ups, wide arms because they were easier.   Then I started at tri-ceps.

In order to catch up to the class, I did them privately at home 10 reps, 100 a day…or so it started.  Every week 2 to 3 times a week I did this.

Well, months later even between breaks, pitfalls and what not I can do 400 push-ups.  A mixture of split, tri-cep and chest.  I do 30 reps in one set.  And I have cut down rest time between sets.  I try to get them done as soon as possible.

I also started incorporating planks between sets.  I’m also doing them on the black side of the BOSU and on the stability ball.  All for variation and complete strength trainning.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, if you think you can do it…..just know it can be done!!!

A lot of times people are so skeptical of me.  Especially men, like how can a girl do regualar push-ups if she’s not an athelete?  I showed plenty including my boss, my honey’s brother and my family.  They have to respect a woman who can do them and with proper form.

That’s another thing.  The form will become better as you do them!!! GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE TO SEE YOUR FACE IN THE FORUMS!!!!!!

BTW, I keeps up and all my push-ups in yoga and kickboxing combined.  Easy easy.

140!!!!*Bootie Bouncin’ time* 3 lbs!! Oh yes!!!! Those are real mamas!!

I am completely elated.   My LITTLE FLOWER - you are so right!  You all know how I said it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to have lost 9 lbs when I had food poisoning?  Well, 3 or those 9 are actually real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WHOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!  I don’t know when it happened because I get on the scale ohhhhhhhh ever few weeks.

Yes I AM AT 140 LBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BUT BUT I am not going to change my ticker.  I’m terrified it’s a lie and it’s not real.  So let’s dance with me ladies.  If it sticks in 2 weeks then I take it!  How about that?

I can’t believe I’m ALMOST out of the 140’s!!

I guess it’s everything I’ve been doing.  Starting with the day I ate 3000 calories intentionally to the run and increased speed to ahhhh just everything I love about exercise and my food issues.

I AM HAPPY!!!

For those of you who gets upset when you plateau, the reward at the end of it is sweeter.  I plateau for months and months at a time but never once did I ever give up.  It pays to be tenacious.

Hard pill to swallow; I had so much fun today

Rodney sat me down and said to me, look you need to take one more day off exercise.  You are not ready to go back.  You have to get used to eating first.  Sunday - Sunday ok?  As much as I wanted to jump up and go to the gym, I have to listen to my boyfriend.  He only wants what’s best for me.  So I did not go to the gym.  Well, we did have sexercise - does that count?  Oh yes, my baby has been waiting patiently for some and he ate peanut butter.  That’s double whammy for me.

I decided to NOT eat at the Cambodian celebration.  I can only imagine how many calories I would take in.  Instead I ate before I went there and after I got home.  I spent more time walking around enjoying music, playing with my niece and nephews and meeting some of my brother’s girl’s family.  I didn’t stay out there too long.  I just don’t like being in the sun for a long period of time.

I decided for a while check in with sparkspeople and see how well I’m doing calorie counting wise instead of guestimating.  I was in for a bit of shocker.  What I though was about a low calorie day turned out to be a high calorie day.  I guess the dried filet fish pushed me over the top.

Because it’s before my last eat at 9pm I was able to adjust my final meal so that I don’t go over the recommended 1730 calories.  Instead of eating my planned brocooli and beef stir fried with rice I will eat grilled chicken breast w/ rice and cucumber.  Whew saved for today.

I can also see a trend, a trend that has always been hard for me: eating light during the day and heavy at night.  This is always my problem.  Even if I eat heavy during the day I still eat heavy at night.  It really does open my eyes to what I’m truly taking in.  I guess I can do this for a week and see where I’m at.  I’m still eating moderately.  There is no food restriction.  I still feel free with my eating.  I just realized even a good day really isn’t as good as I thought. The great news!  I am within’ range for carbs fat and protein.

As promised to Rod I AM going to the gym tomorrow.  It’s going to be interesting to see what SparksPeople tells me about my food intake.  I tend to eat a heavier breakfast.   My plan tomorrow is to eat about 2000 calories.  This will make it easy to get some weights and yoga in tomorrow.  Again, getting up real early to eat some eggs and oatmeal for energy.

HAPPY KHMER NEW YEAR! Ahhhhh My tastebuds loves me! I return to JIM

I was sooo tired and weak all day.  I swear surviving on crackers and Gatorade is not living.  I couldn’t concentrate on work.  Everything took extra effort.

I came home and said screw it! I eat!  My tummy is hungry and I just want to taste some solid food.  So I ate some chicken and rice.  Yummy!  Then I had 4 donut holes! Delish!  Ahhhh my tastebuds were in love with me.  It says thank you for feeding me.

What do you know?  The moment food hits my system I was able to concentrate.  The dizzyness started to fade.  I can sit and type with no queasy feeling.  I feel like me again! :)  YAH YAH YAH! :)

Tomorrow I have it all planned! I’m back to my routine but dropping it a few notches.  First off still have to get up at 6am to eat for an 8am date with JIM (GYM).  I don’t think I’ll try any cardio just yet.  I just want to get some weights and yoga in.

Tomorrow we are celebrating Cambodian New Year.  We follow the Lunar Calendar and celebration was pushed out to this week.  It’s a ton of food at the park in Long Beach.  I can’t wait to eat traditional food…..a ton of good food!!! Ahhh I’m drooling just thinking about it.  I hope the weather is going to be nice.  It’s been crazy hot one day and cold the next.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I lost *9 lbs*since last weigh in..How much of it is food poisoning?

See, that is impossible because I have not eaten real food for only a couple of days.  I drank as much liquid as I can.

No, I will not change my ticker.   My hunch, most of it is from food poisioning.  But I don’t know.

So, is this why people do those detox things?  Because sitting on a toilet for hours at a time was not fun.  Eating a few bites of food only to not have it in the body for more then a couple of hours is not fun.

For me, again, this is not the way to lose weight.  I want real food, real drinks and water.  I can’t drink water right now because it makes me vomit.

Today my plan is to continue taking in liquid mainly Gatorade.  I can eat some crackers and that’s about it.

Last night Rod bought some Jack in the Crack food and I tried some of it.  Didn’t taste good.

All I want is to feel better so I can eat right tomorrow morning and go to the gym.

I’m at work now.  Get to catch up with you guys!

I fell in the toilet and stayed there

I LIED!

Oh my God!  After I wrote my blog last night my honey gave me another deep tissue massage to release the knots from the previous day’s work out.  You guessed it..purge city was here.  I did not sleep all night.  I was in the bathroom most of the time.  Last night I ended up eating a 1/2 grilled sandwich and a 1/2 peanut butter sandwich.  Didn’t matter as I kept nothing in my system.  I did not sleep unless you count bathroom naps. LOL :)

Even as weak as I was I felt obligated to get to work.  My assistant was out, the other people don’t get into the office till about 11.  Who was going to answer the phone?  (Small business).   I got to work and the shipping manager told me go home.  She’ll take care of everything for me.  THANK YOU!

I am still very queasy.  I have yet to eat anything but 2 crackers and drank gatorade.  I hope this passes soon.  My babe is taking really good care of me.  He’s such a trooper.  Um, just don’t kiss me after I just purged again.

I won’t get any exercise in. *SIGH* Oh well! I hope tomorrow I am back on my feet.

Back to bed.  OH WILL BE BACK TO CATCH UP WITH YOU!!! MISSED ALL MY BUDDIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
