Fast Food Phobia:Observation of those who handle food-*Ewwwww*
I don’t eat fast food, well, I eat it AFTER I buy it for Rod. Like a few bites here and a few fries there. He east fast food twice a day and still weighs 170 lbs at his heaviest.
My observation: Have been to the typical fast food joints daily for the last year - BK, Carl’s, Jack in the Crack, Subway and as I watch these wonderful people work so efficiently to prepare his food, I wonder, where was there hands seconds before they touched his food? Other then Subway, I notice these places do not require their peeps where gloves. I wonder did they scratch their butt in the back room? Blow a snotball and wiped it on their clothes? Did they used the bathroom and not wash up? Really, how many food monitors (don’t know official name) can they have out there checking up on these places?
For example ICE BOX: BK, as I wait for the food she brings out the ice - manual feed! heheh. Girl has nothing to cover her body to prevent whatever is on her to not jump into the ice. Oh and no gloves. So then she set the ice box down, gingerly climbs up and starts - USING UNGLOVED HANDS SHOVING THE ICE INTO THE ICE BOX!!!! Scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I gulped! Boy, don’t want to think about it.
At Jack in the Crack I watched as employee after employee would multitask. One hand cleans with a cloth that I don’t have been washed or not, then same hand goes, pushes the button for the next order, same hand starts putting fries into a pouch and off to the customer it goes. Ewwwwwwwww
Just a few observations. Not trying to knock these wonderful bad for your health places, just another reason I WON’T EAT THE FOOD like I used too.

Today is my 2nd favorite day. It’s kickboxing and Pilates! Oh yes!!
I earned my quarter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAPPYYYYY BOOTIE BOUNCEEE!

I do know one chinese place who delivered food with a peice of the mop in it!

I went to a Thai restaurant that served me Thai ice tea with a COCKROACH IN IT!! Gave me a new one and still charged!

Or the same employee who started working there normal size, eats all the food at 50% and gain 45 lbs in 1 year. My friend did that.
Unfortunately you are correct but it isn’t just the fast food that we all should wonder about and be skeptical. I used to work at a very respectable diner where I live and I quit after what I witnessed. A waitress was pulling bread out of the bread container for someone’s meal and she dropped a piece on the floor so she threw it in the garbage can…WELLLLLLL…then the owner’s wife walked in and saw her throw it in the garbage and she asked her why she did that…the waitress replied that it fell on the floor so it was no good. THE OWNER’S WIFE THEN PULLED IT OUT OF THE GARBAGE AND PUT IT BACK IN THE BREAD BOX. Can you friggin believe that?!?!?!?!?! She said that the floor was just mopped so the bread was still edible. Well anyway, the waitress did take it back out of the bread box and throw it away when the owner’s wife left but still how many other things do you think that lady and other food personal have done that with?????!!!! Gross, huh??

That is sooooo gross and coming from the owner too! So glad the waitress has a conscience.
That’s why I don’t trust anyone but my family with my food now.

Ok girls, way to thoroughly discust me, GREAT JOB, thats just what I needed to stay away from them! Bye the way, I have always wondered what a laughing cow wedge tasted like, can you describe it?
They’re really *supposed* to wear gloves at all those places. I dated (a long time ago!) a guy who worked for the USDA as a health inspector… You know, the guys who make sure everything’s clean and done right? You’d be surprised how NASTY most of those places are, but it’s just because the people who work there are either lazy or underpaid. (Take your pick.) It doesn’t have to be that way though. I know a couple who owns a small restaurant, and I worked there as a teenager, and I don’t even keep my OWN kitchen as clean as we had to keep that place for their satisfaction.
It is literally the cleanest place I’ve ever seen, food or not. It really all depends on the people, and unfortunately, there are way too many people who don’t value cleanliness. 
It’s soooo creamy and smooth at the same time. It’s really good. It’s rich and if you eat it at room temperature it has a buttery taste to it.
I’m not a cheese person but this thing got me. I have a love affair with spreading it on my apple and eating it. I have a problem with eating my fruits with salt - I cut salt out and I needed a sub, it works.
Does it tast sort of like cream cheese?

Thinking about this is a good way to turn yourself off eating. I saw a guy on TV who said if you are craving something, imagine it with something you really don’t like. Like Chocolate cake with Sardines and then add the sweeping of the barber floor on top. Wanting that chocolate cake now?
And just this morning as I was washing my blueberries for breakfast I thought. How is it that WATER, a quick rinse with WATER combats all those chemicals they use. I try to buy organic when I can (it’s expensive), but when you don’t does that rinse really help? I feel like I need to individually scrub the things. But I eat them anyway. Hopefully all the antioxidants combat the chemicals!

However, even worse is what I have seen my mom do to food that beats these stories hands down…(shudders). When I was younger, she was a lot better..but, as my kids were growing up…I always told my mom…oh dont worry about the kids, I’ll feed them so its less work on you which actually translate into…hell no my kids are not eating your food. I love her to death but she drinks too much and she’s managed to lose what good sense she used to have. The stories I have about her & food lmao.

I have worked in food service and many restaurants over the years and all I have to say is never complain about your meal! You never know who is preparing it and the movie “waiting” is way more real then you would think. ^_^
i used to work at mcdonalds when i as 15, and let me tell you, that place should of been shut down. and i worked at a high-end one, in a rich county. and gross gross stuff happened.
there is a web site where u can check out all the saftey reports for your area. I will have to remember it. yeah i worked at 15 and ti was bad. i crack up when at coldstone and people arel iek hwy arent you weaing gloves…we use spades so we never actually touch anything. im like ocd about washing my hands, always have been but i try not to think out what others do
LMAO!!!! I guess we do things a bit different in Canada…(I think)….In places like that employees are required to wear gloves while handeling food. The person on cash doesn’t usually pack or prepare your food. I guess it’s not like that EVERY where in Canada but I’m not a big fast food person anyway

I think it was The Early Morning Show (CBS) that reported around 3 years ago a science fair project a student turned in. She worked at Taco Bell and took some of their ice to get it analyzed. The reported finding urine on it from 6 different people!
We have a ice machine at work that I do use but I take my own cup and dig to the back right where the ice falls to make sure I get fresh ice. There is no way I would use the scoop or take the ice in the front now.
But who in the world grabs ice with a bare hand anyway?

I was gonna share that story about the girl who had the ice analyzed, but Chris beat me to it although I thought she also swabbed the toilet to see what had less bacteria the ice or toilet and the toilets beat the ice as having less bacteria eww. I haven’t ate fast food since Sept. but before that I always asked for NO ice when I ordered a drink. I used to work at KFC and it was pretty clean, but the ice thing I even noticed… the ice was touched or was being touched by things or people when transferred from ice box maker to pop machine gross.
OMG I go off on people if I see them b/c it’s a heath issue. I get pissed b/c that is just sloppy and yes it’s fast food but still it’s your JOB.

PS—I worked at I HOP for a short time in highschool. Don’t get ice there…it’s pretty bad so if you want to know ask but yeah…

When I was 16 I worked at a Pizza Hut, and lost a long fake fingernail in the salad bowl. Trouble is I didn’t know I had lost it there-a customer found it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG!!! GROSS!!!!!!!!!!!

nancy…….you just remind me of something that happened to me 21 yrs ago…..i use 2 eat breakfast every day at a restaurant were i use 2 study……i was prego but did’nt know i was….well that morning i order a corn muffin and coffee and as i cut in half my corn muffin guess what was in it…cockroach not a small one a huge on in top of that…i ran to the br puk my brains out….you just don’t know i ate their everymorning for 1 yr….so you just remind me of how gross some of these places can be and how some of the employees are so nasty…..
back when i was 18 i got a waitress job at a place that had awesome food , it was advertised as ” home cookin ” NOT ! ……… the old man that owned it passed away and his son (witch had worked there for years ) took the resturant over . i started to notice how business slacked off , 2 cars in the parking lot and you used to have to wait outside for a table . anyways i only worked there for about 5 days . let me tell you why i got fired/quit . the son , new manager name was rodney . Rodney was the cook . i saw him go in the bathroom and straight back out zipping his pants up as he walked tword me , im thinkin in my head ” no way he had time to wash his hands ” he goes right on cookin OMG (lets keep in mind how grossed out i am, i wash my hands like 100 times a day ) later in the evening he was mopping the floor , taking out trash and still didnt wash his hands , went right back to cookin , this is the owner doing this . the next day i saw him put food in the microwave and then stir it with his finger . several times i saw him scratchin his umm “man bag ” once even on the INSIDE of his pants . i try to tell myself ok i dont have to eat here i just gotta work here . on the last day that i worked there , he came to me and ask “ok let me show you some stuff in the kitchen incase we dont need a waitress oneday and need the extra kitchen help ” omg no not me , i dont wanna go in there im thinkin . he showed me a few things and when it got to makin biscuits and gravy , he said just place the biscuits on a pan and stick them in the oven set the timer , okay no problem . now gravy thats a different story . he got out this plastic bag full of gravy he said just cut it open and dump it in , ok . now let me show you how to make a plate of biscuits and gravy . you take 2 biscuits (he got them out with his hands ) and cut them in half , one laddle of gravy for each biscuit . ok . he puts the plate in the microwave , pulls it out and says just check it see if its hot . he stirs it with his finger and then eats whats on his finger . not hot enought puts it back in the microwave . ok i’ve seen enought . i said well im not stickin my finger in someones food . so how else you gonna know if its hot enought ? as he takes the plate back out of the microwave he sticks his finger in it again ( keep in mind he just licked that finger ) i said i dont know but im not gonna do that ! do what ? IM NOT STICKIN MY FINGER IN SOMEONES GRAVY AND TASTIN IT !you will do as your told he said . you do what you want but im not doing that nasty shit ! NASTY ? he said YEAH NASTY ! YOUR NASTY ! IVE NEVER SEEN YOU WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER YOU MOP OR SCRATCH YOURRRRRRRRR **** thats nasty and your nasty ! i cant believe i ate here . he said well if you dont like the way i do things then maybe you shouldnt work here , YEAH YA THINK ! i said your the owner and dont care how peoples food is prepared . you should be THE ONE making sure everything is clean and that your employee’s wash their hands . the kitchen was so nasty , most pans just got a quick rinse , and not washed like they should of , anyways after i ranted about him being nasty , i told a “regular ” on my way out “thank god you just drink the coffee out of this nasty place ” I’VE NEVER BEEN BACK . not even to get my check . maybe they invested it in some soap and water lol .
Eeeeeewwwww thanks for reminding me why I don’t like fast food places…but this is true of all places where you don’t prepare the food yourself. Now, when my BFF was a kid, he put in maggot on the hamburger of a regular customer he didn’t like…on this particular day the customer complained about God knows what, so he and his buddy put a maggot in his food…mashed it up really well, so the poor guy never knew….just thinking about it, makes my skin crawl!! GROSS!
wow- horror stories! I worked at Ruby Tuesday and never saw anything of this type! I even worked at a “greasy spoon” and everything was still clean and sterile and all the employees were always washing their hands and stuff. At Ruby Tuesday if you weren’t folliwing guidelines they fired your butt!! Of course, that was all in NY; they don’t seem to have as strict guidelines here in the South!
