Pushing beyond my own limits! Accomplishing goals 1 task @ a time

I’ve been thinking about becoming an instructor more and more these days; I have a few personal demons that are holding me back.  Maybe one day I’ll teach my favorite formats - yoga, kickboxing, weights and pilates.  It takes time and money - two things I don’t have.  For now I’m enjoying the thrill and rush I get from doing it for myself.

My boyfriend, mom and sister couldn’t believe I went out there and kept working out.  I have to.  I’m not blessed with good genes.  My sis is.  She has two babies and even at her pregnant weight, never made it to 146 lbs.  Almost 2 years later she’s already at 120 lbs without exercising for one day of her life.

Me, let me get lazy for 3 days and the weight creeps back on.  So, I do what I must do to get myself to goal.

I ate well before all my classes;two hours ahead of time - good mix of protein, carbs and fat and  plenty of green tea and water.  It does make a difference in the energy level I had.  I used to never eat before I work out and found I was always too tired to do the whole class.

The Shadowboxing class was hardcore MJ!  It was so much fun.  The moves are all from boxing.  Oh and yah - 3 1/2 minutes of conditioning done between each combos.  First was push-ups.  I have to say I was the only girl to keep up with the guys and did regular push-ups for all three 1/2 minutes.  Then a new combo and 3 1/2 min. of jump roping.  At this point I can feel myself slacking; but I refuse to give in and went for it.  We went like this for the whole hour.

So Saturday  is another day of fun.  I pray CHRIS shows up for Bootcamp.  I plan on doing the SET class and Bootcamp tomorrow.

I’m exhausted.  Will certainly take another nap after I get done reading and replying to blogs and forums.

I feel the same way, my genes like to be fat so I will always have to work out and eat less until the end of time. *sigh* I am in the same boat girl.
A ton of my friends are like your sister, they will never have to work out and will be skinny.
Oh well, maybe our kids will get lucky and have better genes.
You kicked butt today. I was bad, I didn’t really do any formal exercising but I did haul laundry all over my house and clean. Ok, ok….I’ll go take the dog on a walk. You talked me into it :)

I totally feel you, Nancy! I am determined to get back into my good workout routine. I’m not you and doubt I’ll be spending too much time at the gym…but I definitely want to get back where I was.

Thx Tanya! You are so right about that. My sis is not healthy. She gets intimidated with the thought of going to the gym with me. As such she refuses; I would work her. :)

I was not blessed with good genes either!

I do think you would be an awesome instructor…you are very knowledgable, and you have a strong drive. Maybe you could start out as a substitute and just do it occasionally. That might help you to know if you would really enjoy being the leader! Just a thought…

    Happy Saturday to ya!

Hey I totally understand the “good genes” thing. My mother never weight over 135 her whole adult life and I was 140 at 12 years old. Needless to say she made me have a complex and was always trying to “fix” me. I cannot get lazy either so like you, I will be at gym and watching what I eat for the rest of my life…however I think that those of us that commit to this lifestyle will be much healthier in the long run than our skinny counterparts that never step foot in a gym.

Im glad you were thinking about being an instructor…I thought about you doing that several times although I did not mention it to you cause I thought you would think I was crazy. But you have the love, commitment, and I’m sure many people will get inspired from you drive and determination! Shit…I’d take your class! LOL

Great job on the shadowboxing…sounds really hardcore…I would’ve loved it!

  20. astrongnewme @ December 28th, 2008

I would so love to try that shadow boxing class! How awesome. I will enjoy it through you, if you don’t mind, ha ha :)

Oh, you’d be a kickbutt instructor! Literally. But I’d be brave and try one of your classes!

I think you would be a great instructor and should go for it! :D
