I eat too much

I’m not going to lie to myself anymore.  Girl, your crazy ass eats too much.

Every day starts with great intentions: eat right, eat right and eat right, stay within calorie goal yada yada yada…. goes on and on.  Yet at the end of the day, I eat more then I should.

What I’m doing right:

What I don’t get is I can get the water down.  Thanks to our team challenge from a while ago, I am now a water fiend.  I can down a gallon and some a day no problem.

I’ve gotten sugar and salt intake down.  Most food I eat is broiled, baked or grilled except for the occasional stir fry this or that.

Exercise, good Lord, that’s my savior from gaining weight, not lose but maintain.  Without it I don’t know where I’d be.  However, to me exercise is not about weight, it’s something I love doing so it’s fun and my biggest hobby.

What I’m doing wrong:

I eat too much at night and I’m a huge grazer.  No matter how I spread out my calories because I tried every avenue - be it calories spread evenly during the day or the whole eat breakfast like a king and dinnner like a pauper, eat more carbs this time of day and more protein this time of day, or eat less during the day and more at night, I still have food issues.

I can’t give up my white rice, don’t care what any ”diet” tells me, I must have some at least once a day.  I don’t eat as much as I used to, but I still eat it daily.

Today, my goal is to figure out a plan that would keep me on track.  Don’t know what it is yet but I have to.  I have to eat enough during the day to sustain an active day, water is a must, maybe I can cut down on the coffee from 8 oz to 5 oz (down from 2 to 3 cups a day), drink more tea….ahhhh the list goes on.  My goal is to stay at 1400 on off days like today and at 1500 to 1700 calories on my active days.

Yesterday I bombed it.  Went to 1800+ and then my crazy ass gets up at midnight and had a snack.  So when Rodney asked, “aren’t you suppose to stop eating at 8?” I said, “I’m on my period, DO not tell me I can’t eat!”  Poor honey.  :(

In the meantime got my water down already. :)

This is not a whining post, just need to write down my thoughts so I can move on.  Whining won’t get me anywhere.  I have to be active and attack my issues head on.

My weakness….. EATING! I actually love working out, feels really good to me even when its a challenge. But the eating kills anything I do. There will be times that I workout so much but also eat alot and just maintain my wieght. I’m not ready to maintain…lol

Well we can do this…lol I too have snapped at my hubby for reminding me of my food intake plan….lol Poor guys….lol

Poor guys it is! Isabelle, we are on the same page huh girl? Love ya!

Mmm.. rice.. . that sounds so yummy. Growing up I would eat it everyday too (my mum is Filipino). Err . . sorry going off track. Snacking and eating at night are the toughest for me. I know with your will and determination you will get it figured out.

oh i hear ya. that’s me in a nutshell, too. wanna not eat tonight? you can do anything for ONE day!

  5. khmerbeauty @ October 29th, 2008

Hmmm, Debbie - I wish I can say I wanna NOT eat tonight but I love food a little too much and I won’t make it. :)

So you see, I starve my boyfriend - even though he’s thin already and fatten myself. LOL

Girl, I totally understand. I am the QUEEN of working out just to maintain. I recently found Fitday.com b/c of a buddy on here and it is changing my life! You know how much trouble I have keeping track of my food via journaling. I have now done it for six days! Six whole days in a row. Sounds like no big deal but I haven’t been able to accomplish that in nearly 15 years. I like it b/c it gives you a graph that shows you how much you’ve eaten vs. how much you’ve burned (basal and activity). So at night, when I want to snack, I look at my chart and I am much more reluctant to eat more calories than I should. I’m not saying this is for you, just telling you what I have found that I believe is working for me. You are awesome girl, keep on kicking ass!

Aww Dawn - great job on keeping a journal for 6 days. I’ll certainly check out Fitday- sounds like a great site. Thanks sweetie.

I am in the same boat as you! I LOVE my workouts so get them in no matter what. But when I’m not losing weight, it’s because I’m eating too damn much lol. I love food, and it’s hard to stay away from it sometimes. And, like you there are certain foods I refuse to give up. I WILL NOT give up my carbs. Refuse to. I NEED those carbs…as do you really…because we DO workout so much. So, keep on eating that white rice girl! :P I do the same and feel zero guilt about it…the trick is that we gotta just eat a little bit less of it hehe. Mine isn’t always in white rice, but it often is. It’s always there though…carbs, that is. Whether it is in the form of white rice, bread, pasta, whatever. I gotta have it!

But, gotta keep the food at a minimum or I just plain do not lose weight. I too use Fitday and just LOVE it! I keep track of my food intake AND my workouts that way. I highly recommend it to everyone all of the time lol.

    Have a GREAT day! :D

Good thing we both workout, I love food too. AND I am a night eater. I commit to you and Debbie to not eat anything after 9 pm tonite!

  10. khmerbeauty @ October 29th, 2008

Hey Catrina! I love seeing you back on track! Awesome sweetie!

If you take the rice from me I might as well not be Asian. :) Just Kidding!

Go ahead and love your carbs! It’s ok; you workout enough to eat it.

I’ll certainly hit up FITDAY - thanks to you and Dawn.

OK Boss! Debbie - let’s do it. I know I can stay away from food at 9pm (help!!) :)

  12. somemansdream @ October 29th, 2008

    Hey there,
Food..it does the best of us in. However, I am like Catrina, there are some things I just wont give up…mine is movie popcorn…not saying I wont go down in size…just not giving it up completely.
You work out so hard..its your love and passion which is wonderful..so, I really think you need your carbs. I am sure you will figure this out.
    Good luck to you…love Debbie

  13. dawnrenee1313 @ October 29th, 2008

Well…I think its clear, a lot of us here LOVE food…I can be a grazer too…And come from a loonnnng line of grazers…I BLAME MOM! :) LOL…

You are clearly doing something right though, so maybe this is just something you will have to adapt to as just something you dont want to give up…

OR, if you get up in teh middle of the night, at least have a celery stalk or something! :)

You are doing great otherwise and are a HUGE inspiration…

  14. kyliejo @ October 29th, 2008

Have you ever tried whole grain brown rice? It’s not too bad and it’s broken down slower and makes you more full. We all have food addictions otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten ourselves into this crap. Hang in there :)

  15. Dagny @ October 29th, 2008

Really? I never thought you ate too much. You do workout alot, and sometimes more than one session or class, from what you so. So I think you would need so many calories for energy to keep you going…
You are doing great though! And your such an inspiration when I read your accountability on the forums, because you always eat healthier than me!
    Good luck!

  16. renee68 @ October 29th, 2008

I agree with Dagny. I am always amazed at the exercise time you get in, as well as the healthy foods. Maybe you need to change something up….possibly your body has gotten used to the amount of activity and the amount/types of foods??? Don’t take my word for it though Nancy…I am just learning. I dont know how to break the midnight munchies either. If it is indeed your “time of the month”, well…cut your self some slack. I know you will get it figured out and do what is best for you. Take care!

  17. harleygirl @ October 30th, 2008

LMAO! I love you! Seriously…poor Rodney, but I get where you are coming from. TOM and PaMS wreck all kinds of havoc on our lives. I was just thinking of something that might help you with eating at night, but now I can’t for the life of me remember what it was. Oh! What are you eating at night? Girl, my challenge to you is to chop up some veggies. You wanna graze, it’s gonna be on carrots, peppers, celery, etc!

  18. harleygirl @ October 30th, 2008

Oh, and one other thing…sounds like Dagny and Renee are really watching your accountability on the forums…set a good example for them and account for EVERYTHING! When Pandora started this accountability thing she was writing if she even had a lick of her daughter’s ice cream cone. I am guilty of not writing down my naughty nibbles…are you?

  19. khmerbeauty @ October 30th, 2008

HAHAHAHAHA - Where is Pandora by the way? That’s too funny!!!
